RICHARD EMORI AWARD

The Richard Emori Award was established in memory of the late Professor Richard Ichiro Emori, the founder of Law Approach theory in scale modeling and the lead author of a famous book: Mokeijiken no riron to ohyou (Scale Models in Engineering: Its theory and applications). Professor Emori established the First International Symposium on Scale Modeling in 1988, Tokyo Japan. His unique and innovative approach in scale model development has influenced many researchers, students and industry engineers worldwide. This award goes to candidates who have encouraged the use of scale modeling to broader fields of research, and recognize their past contributions in scale model research and their leadership. The nominatee are selected and discussed by award committee.

The List of Past Recipients:
  • Kozo Saito, University of Kentucky, at the Second ISSM
  • Tadao Takeno, Nagoya University, at the Third ISSM
  • Simon Ostrach, Case Western Reserve University, at the Fourth ISSM
  • Toshi Hirano, Chiba Institute of Science, at the Fifth ISSM
  • Forman Williams, UCSD, at the Sixth ISSM
  • Akihiko Ito, Hirosaki University, at the Seventh ISSM

THE ISCM YOUNG INVESTIGATOR AWARD

The Young Investigator Award in Scale Modeling was created during ISSM6 by the International Scale Modeling Committee. The aim of this award is to recognize researchers' early contributions in scale modeling, the potential for their leadership, and to encourage their continuing participation/contribution to the scale modeling research and applications.

The List of Past Recipients:

  • Yuji Nakamura, Hokkaido University, at the Sixth ISSM
  • Kazu Kuwana, Yamagata University, at the Seventh ISSM
