NEW JOURNAL: PROGRESS IN SCALE MODELING

International Scale Modeling Committee (ISMC) is preparing a new journal: Progress in Scale Modeling to be started at the time of ISSM8. This new journal is a result of a two-day scale modeling workshop held in May 2015 at the University of Kentucky. Attendees for this workshop included (Taro Hirasawa, Manabu Fuchihata, Yuji Nakamura, Tamio Ida, Kazu Kuwana, Fang Liu, Li Yang, Michael Winter, Jose Grana, Kozo Saito), and all had a common interest in scale modeling and have been involved in scale modeling research. The need for this new journal was extensively discussed as to create a new form of communication among scale modeling researchers based on the legacy of two books "Progress in Scale Modeling (PSM)" published in 2008 from Springer (ISBN: 978-1-4020-8682-3) and "Progress in Scale Modeling II (PSM2)" (ISBN: 978-3-319-10307-5), including the selected papers presented at the past ISSMs (first to Seventh). Both PSM and PSM2 have become an important source of information on the progress in scale modeling, but it was recognized that the frequency of publication needed to be increased. This new journal can be the solution for the above current needs by publishing papers every three months. ISMC believes that this new journal can help scale modeling researchers to effectively communicate their results and initiate/exchange their ideas and discussions in a timely manner.

HOW TO PREPARE YOUR MANUSCRIPT (submission due date: April 30, 2017 May 31, 2017 (extended))

**** DUE DATE WAS EXTEDNED TO MAY 31st, 2017 ****

Please submit a full-length manuscript by following the instructions shown below. To objectively appreciate your contribution, multiple reviewers will be assigned to review your submitted papers.

Use the template file (doc and pdf) to prepare your manuscript; do not change the format of the template file. Sample files (doc and pdf) are also available.

  • Use pdf format with 12 font size Time New Roman or closely related.
  • Your paper should provide: Title, Author(s) name and affiliation, the corresponding author’s name and his/her e-mail address, several keywords that can reflect your paper, and abstract.
  • Papers published in PSM and PSM II can be used as an acceptable format example when you prepare your papers. Submission procedure will be provided at a later date.
[Requirements for Papers]
For experimental papers, they should address scaling laws and the validation of their scaling laws by either their scale model experiments or full scale phenomena.
For computational papers, they should address the validation of their results through comparison with results of either scale model experiments or the full scale phenomena.
For theoretical papers, they should address a new method of deriving scaling laws or a new interpretation of the relationship between scale models and the full scale phenomena.

Your manuscript (pdf version) should be sent via E-mail to issm8paper@gmail.com for review. Upon submission, follow the instruction below:

  • In subjcet of your mail, please write "submittion to ISSM8 (first author's name)". Do not forget to put "first authors' name" in the subject line as shown in above.
  • In the body, please descrive the title, authour's name(s), affiliation(s) and the contact (mail address of corresponding author would be most welcome).
  • Please add the statement to indicate that the contents in the manuscript are new and not published anywhere (this rule is not applicable to the invited speakers).
Please submit one paper (pdf version) per one submission e-mail to avoid any potential confusion. After submission of your papers, you will receive a confirmation e-mail from the ISSM8 office with submission number. Please keep your submission number for future references.
